The Irish Setter is one of the most beautiful and elegant of dog breeds in my opinion. I fell in love with it ever since reading a novel about one in the sixth grade. I don't remember what the book was called, I think it was "Big Red" but I'm not sure. I always wondered why you don't see that many Irish Setters around, I asked on a forum once and was told that the breed is super active and needs loads of exercise to keep it happy and healthy.
