Sunset In Acrylic

Here is my forth acrylic painting, this one is done on 5x7 inch canvas board. I do like the feel of stretched canvas better, but the small 5x7 canvas boards are good for small studies and experimenting with color. This painting by the way is based on a computer composition I did a while back.

Acrylic Landscape

This is my third acrylic painting made on 8 x 10 inch wrapped canvas. So far I'm really liking painting in acrylics. Mixing the colors is a bit of pain because I need to work quickly and at the moment only have the primary colors of Liquidex Basics: cadmium yellow hue, ultramarine blue, naphthol crimson, phthalocyanne green plus mars black and titanium white. If I had a brown I think the coloring mixing would be a little faster. But that's okay fo now, as I use the colors up I'll buy the ones I need. Recently I got 5 x 7 inch canvas boards so stay tuned for more paintings.

Seascape In Acrylic

Here is my second acrylic painting, done on 10x8 inch wrapped canvas. I was surprised at how easy it was to paint the water, the paint just seemed to blend in so nicely giving the effect of reflected water. Although the paint dried faster than I would like on the palette, on the canvas it remained workable for longer than I thought and gave me enough time to blend in the colors, something which I worried about when thinking of about trying acrylics. Stay tuned, I have another painting to show.

My First Acrylic Painting

After contemplating for several years about giving acrylics a try I finally took the plunge and bought a starter set of Liquitex Basics acrylic paint, a three pack 8 x 10 inch stretch canvas, some paint brushes and eagerly looked forward to making my first acrylic landscape painting.

I thought I might not like painting in acrylics because of its fast drying time and the care I need to take not to get paint where it's not suppose to be since acrylic becomes permanent once it dries, but I really enjoyed it and am looking forward to making more. Stay tuned as I hope to be posting more acrylic paintings.
