This squirrel emerging from under a hosta plant is my latest watercolor painting that I have been working on. Originally I planned to have a robin in the painting but watching squirrels dart in and out of the hosta leaves that grow in the patio flower bed gave me a change of mind.
In the painting I replaced the patio slabs with grass for a more natural setting. The squirrel was from a photo I took several years ago, its pose was just right for the painting I had in mind.
