Giant Panda Facts
The Giant panda inhabits the misty high elevation regions of China. Being on the endangered species list for decades, it has been reclassified as "vulnerable" due to the rise in its population although still low compared to other wild animals not in threat of extinction.
Unlike other bears, Giant pandas do not hibernate, in winter they move to warmer areas and carry on as usual which means munching on their favorite food, bamboo. Giant pandas were once thought to belong to the raccoon family but studies of their DNA revealed that they are indeed a bear, and a beautiful one at that!
