Chickadees

Stylized Chickadee Pillows from Redbubble

I don't know if I mentioned this before but chickadees are one of my favorite birds. Most people are familiar with the Black Capped chickadee since it is so common wide spread across much of North America but did you know that there are two other species that look almost identical to the Black Capped chickadee? They are the Carolina chickadee and the Boreal chickadee.

As the name hints, the Boreal chickadee is found in Northern Canada and into Alaska. The only thing that really distinguishes it from the better known Black Capped chickadee, besides its habit, is the brownish flanks and the brownish cap.

The Carolina chickadee is difficult to tell apart from the Black Capped variety, It's a bit smaller with a shorter tail than its better known counterpart. Easiest way to identify the Carolina chickadee is by its location which is in the south eastern United States including Florida where Black Capped chickadees don't venture.

My latest chickadee design is featured on this pillow as well as on posters, art prints and other gift products from my Redbubble store
